"Q"

q, or quelle which is german for "source," is a theoretical book in which some scholars say that matthew and mark may have taken information from that isnt contained in mark. they say that this book may have contained the sayings or teachings of jesus. as this is just a theory, there is no evidence for this book, aside from that it was not uncommon to complile just this sort of book in those times.
i think that fabricating this supposed book of jesus's teachings and sayings is a bit of a stretch in order for us to understand how matthew's and luke's books came to incorporate new material that wasnt included in mark. i dont understand why it cant be accepted that the Gospels were God-breathed and inspired. doesnt it make it more miraculous and awe-inspiring the more it defines reason (to a certain extent)? there is no explaination other than the scripture being God-inspired, so biblical scholars have to invent a book that there is no evidence for? i think we should just accept God's Word as what it is, truth.

  1. well in a logical sense, the majority of people will try to find an easy, observable source behind everything. the trouble with most faiths is that they're innately mysterious; and there is seldom any real tangeability in that respect to a realist. applying that desire to unravel something intageable as in this case seems like another monumental waste of time. i wonder how anyone has such time to fritter away; but i digress. the truth may be that they were in fact "god-breathed", or it may be the most astronomically improbable coincidence. either way, lets try to keep the wonder in it, and refrain from trying to illuminate the vast mystery with a single, proverbial, insignificant, candle. the intricacies of something as grand and elusive as god can't simply be explained away, even considering the perspective of a nonbeliever. cure cancer or something.
